More than third of recreational and competitive athletes suffer from symptoms of pelvic health disorder. These symptoms affect their performance in silence, and subsequently their participation in sports. Although we are referring to active female in general, the symptoms affect men too and should be investigated and treated. With increased longevity, it is our professional duty to promote active life and participation in sports.
- Introduce pelvic health anatomy, physiology and anthropology
- Increase awareness of different factors that influence pelvic floor muscle function
- Interpret symptoms of the pelvic floor dysfunction
- Assess for pelvic floor muscle function (externally)
- Introduce ultrasound assessment in pelvic health
- Develop treatment skills to treat symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction in sports
- Differentiate between managing recreational and competitive athletes
- Increase understanding of the load management in sports in regard to pelvic floor
This course is full of practical and various clinical reasoning workshops. Please wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to sweat and test your 1RM!
- Advanced anatomy and physiology of the pelvic floor complex and its role in different
sporting disciplines - Increase understanding of the physiological changes through timeline
- Increase knowledge of the most common pelvic floor dysfunctions (PFD) in female
and male sports - Develop understanding of load management in different sporting disciplines
- Develop and/or advance skills in assessing for in semi- and professional athletes
- Advance or develop your management approach in treating an athlete with PFD
- Advance your communication skills in the MDT management of an athlete with PFD
- Experience live demo assessing and managing an athlete with PFD including novel
tests combining Sports and Pelvic Health approaches
